I have met Judith Mansfield of Todmorden Books and managed to buy this book.

My copy is an original, Third Edition – Twelfth Thousand, dated 1900.

The patterns are fascinating and many require extreme patience.  One of my favorites is this Pence- Jug.

There are several patterns using ‘Gossamer Knitting Silk’.  I am amazed that such fine filament can actually be knitted into a veil.  Personally I would struggle to count the 187 stitches to cast on!
